See inside every module. Without taking a single one off the string.
Electroluminescence (EL) testing reveals micro-cracks, cell defects, and hidden manufacturing flaws inside PV modules — invisible to the eye, a thermal camera, or even an IV curve test. No modules are removed from the string, and testing causes zero production loss.

A complete picture of what's happening on your modules.
Categories checked
Cell-Level Defects
Micro-cracks and hairline cracks that can worsen over time and lead to power loss.
Manufacturing Defects
Finger interruptions, soldering issues, and cell mismatch introduced during manufacturing.
Degradation Indicators
Potential Induced Degradation (PID) and other early-stage degradation not visible in thermal or visual inspection.
Inactive Cell Areas
Dark or non-responsive regions within a module indicating reduced or lost electrical activity.
A structured process — from first flight to final report.
Steps
Site Setup
We bring in specialized EL cameras and a regulated DC power supply, requiring only a single-phase AC connection near the modules — no special infrastructure needed.
On-Site Imaging
Each module is forward-biased using its rated voltage and current (Voc/Isc) and imaged with a near-infrared camera — while still connected within its string. No modules are removed or sent off-site.
Night-Time Testing
Imaging is done after sunset, when modules aren't generating power — so testing causes zero disruption to your plant's output. Day-time testing is also possible using a dark-room setup.
Defect Analysis & Reporting
Captured EL images are analyzed to identify and classify defects — cracks, cell damage, and degradation — module by module, with results available on our portal.
One inspection — value for every stakeholder on site.
Teams served
For Owners & Asset Managers
Verify module quality without any production downtime — catching hidden defects before they turn into performance losses or warranty disputes.
For EPCs
Test installed modules for construction or transport-related cracks before handover, without the cost or disruption of removing and re-installing modules.
For O&M Teams
Identify modules with hidden cell damage that thermal or visual inspection alone would miss — plan replacements before failure, with zero generation loss during testing.
Clear outcomes your team can act on.
- 01Cell-level defect detection invisible to the naked eye, thermal camera, or IV test
- 02No module removal required — tested in-string, in-place
- 03Zero production loss — testing done at night
- 04Clear classification of crack severity and defect type
- 05Module-wise EL image reports, with portal access anytime

Still have a question about el testing?
Get in touchNo. Modules are tested while still connected within the string. We simply isolate the module being imaged, without disconnecting the string from the combiner box.
